In 2013 I was ordained a Permanent Deacon and appointed to The Team Ministry of Crumlin, Clogher Road and Mourne Road.  I was born in Crumlin and I am one of eight children.  My mother was from Leighlin Road and my father from Monasterboice Road.  I am self employed repairing electrical tools.  In my spare time I am a volunteer youth worker with Brú Crumlin Youth Club.  I was also a member of the Irish Naval Reserve for many years.

Like a number of people, my faith and the support of those around me, makes life a joy.  Permanent Deacons work in a voluntary capacity.  They may be married or single.  Those that are not married take a vow of celibacy.  Permanent Deacons assist the priest, minister at the altar, proclaim the Gospel and assist in works of charity.  They also celebrate Baptism and Marriage, give Benediction, bring Ccommunion to the sick, minister at Funerals and bestow some Blessings.  Unlike a priest he cannot say Mass, hear Confessions, give Absolution or administer Viaticum to the dying.  At all times he assists the priest and takes his direction from him.
